Even though we were real tired from our drive yesterday we got up in time, opted to have something light, I just had a tall glass of warm milk.
Since we were so tired due to yesterday’s journey, we decided to take a break and do some souvenir shopping for family, friends and co-workers :D.
We hopped into our Thar and made our way to the main market, after doing a few laps around the city we finally found a parking spot near our hotel only :(. Most of the main roads are pretty narrow and finding a spot even for a bike was a task.
As we strolled down the lanes we noticed most of them leaned towards jewelry pieces, shawls, and paintings.
If I had to suggest you guys some shop that I liked it would be these.
This is an organic store that sells dried apricots and apricot-related beauty products like face scrubs.
And this shop sells novelty handmade embroidery shirts, some were really quirky and some were well, how should I put it “BOLD”, lol .
This is the front of the store is a bit hard to spot.
I suggest trying to find the another store that is located on the opposite side
Also do check out the place in advance cause they also do custom designs but take up to a day to deliver, depending on the work, etc. We were not lucky enough to get a custom shirt so we took the funny one 😀
Holding all our bags we went to the main market, it is pretty huge. We saw a lot of interesting items that we actually wanted to buy, but the prices they quoted seemed a bit high, it is tough shopping in such locations when one is unaware of the actual prices and is also bad at bargaining. I blame them for making we crawl for sales/free shipping :D.
By now we were at the end of the road, a totally opposite direction from was our car was parked. Looked around and we found a restaurant tucked away in a corner. Seriously guys most of the shops you will just miss because it just does not look like one from the outside.
We had lunch at the World Garden Café (review coming up), it is a nice café which is pretty decent with its food, service, and ambiance.
We loved the fries that came with our burger, we requested for just fries and they served us a hot plate. It’s hot, fluffy totally different and yummy.
Now that our tummy was fully we quickly reached our Jeep and still had energy to go roaming, so we decided to head up to the “Hall Of Fame” (detailed post coming up). It is a museum which is actually maintained by the Indian army, it is in the memory of the brave soldiers who lost their lives. The museum also has a history and culture of the region.
A few hops away in the same corridor was Café Aroma (review coming up), our wonderful mood was turned into a bad one very quickly, this place was bad from the even aspect. The food, service, and cleanness were just bad all the way. We did not even finish our beverages, just paid and left.
As it still light outside and the sunset was hours away we decided we use the time we check out another spot “Shanti Stupa” (detailed post coming up). Located on the hill top this place houses the Buddhist white-domed stupa, stupa meaning a structure which containing relics of Buddhist monks/nuns and is used as a place of meditation. It is completely quiet and the view is amazing from the top.
This place actually reminded me the beautiful Golden Temple which is near Mangalore.
By the time we were leaving it was actually closing time, we headed straight back to our room.
